It has been a year of growth and challenge, listening and learning. I appreciate the responses of every NMHC member who took our recent survey. Your input will help guide our team as we plan for the future. In that survey, many of you expressed frustration with rising premiums. I un- derstand that, and we have been working to hold your premiums steady for 2019. I am pleased to say we have succeeded at controlling costs by managing our members’ care, being efficient in our op- erations and negotiating better rates with our contracted providers. Whenever and wherever possible, we will pass those savings on to you in the form of lower premiums. But remember that every year, we inch toward a higher age group. As we age, we become more expensive to insure. However, you will still find that the NMHC plans are competitively priced, especially the Gold plan. The federal open enrollment period for 2019 individual coverage began on Nov. 1 and will close at midnight on Dec. 15, 2018. Please read the article on page 1 to prepare for open enrollment. You have only six weeks to switch health plans if you choose to do so. Now is the time to look closely at your current NMHC plan and decide if it is still the best plan for you. You may be able to find another NMHC plan that’s afford- able and has a lower deductible. You can browse all our 2019 plans online at mynmhc.org/enroll.aspx . We are so glad to have you as a mem- ber. Have a safe, happy holiday season, and may 2019 be your healthiest year yet. Message from Marlene Marlene C. Baca, CEO of New Mexico Health Connections T he new year brings changes to your NMHC pharmacy benefits. Changes to your pharmacy benefits for 2019 • Formulary. The NMHC formulary (drug list) is subject to change each year. Members affected by changes will receive letters from OptumRx before the end of 2018. If you get a letter, be sure to review it, and contact your doctor to talk about your options. When possible, the letter will include alternative drugs that will be covered in 2019. • $0-copay generic list. NMHC covers select generic drugs to treat common chronic conditions. This list may change each year. Members affected by changes will receive letters from us before the end of 2018. If you receive a letter, please read it carefully. Note: If a generic drug is removed from the $0-copay list, you may still be able to receive it at the applicable generic copay level. • No longer covering small group plan members. As of Jan. 1, 2019, group members covered on the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) will no longer have coverage through NMHC, and OptumRx will no longer provide prescription services to these members. 2440 Louisiana Blvd. NE, Suite 601 Albuquerque, NM 87110 Standard U.S. Postage PAID Walla Walla, WA Permit No. 44
